Ease Gill lies at the northern tip of Lancashire where it forms the boundary with Cumbria. The gill cuts its way through the coarse gritstone to the underlying Carboniferous limestone which forms Britain's longest and most complex cave system.
Here the naturally acidic rainwater combined with the stone carried in suspension, carves through the limestone, leaving beautiful and elegant sculptures.
The gill eventually becomes Leck Beck, joins the River Lune and rolls peacefully onwards through the tranquil Lune Valley and out in to Morecambe Bay.
